Here are the words from John Kerry's mouth, via video on Think Progress,
"Well I did, I said it was a botched joke. Of course I'm sorry about a botched joke. Do you think I love botched jokes?"
Note that he didn't mention anything about the armed forces in that. He apologized for screwing up the joke, not for offending hundreds of thousands of military personel.
John, the military is still waiting for you to apologize to them.
